Cicada is a patchwork folktronica duo consisting of Violet Beller and Lucas Matthews. Their sound exists at the intersection of warm, organic folk and indie with delicate glitchy electronics. The soundscapes are soft and airy, drifting with quiet motion, with notes settling into a soft glow. Released on October 24, 2025, CICADA 2 arrives as the duo’s debut album, a lush and immersive tapestry of earthy tones and understated sparkling electronic edges. Like their 2024 EP Autumn, it was released in the fall, it's hard to say whether that was intentional or pure coincidence, but the music itself feels suited to every season regardless. Lucas’s solo project, Luko M further explores the more electronic sides, as heard in his latest single “Alarm (Luko M Edit)” ft. Canyon.
